Podcasting Work

PartyCast S2E1

"The Future of Smash Ultimate DLC"

October 2017 - August 2019

This live, unscripted podcast series was created for Party Game Bros by myself to allow for streamers who could not stream as often as me or to bring in important guests in the video game industry to talk about anything and everything video games. It took place on the main Party Game Bros channel, where we also posted event livestreams, unboxings, and top 10 videos.

In this particular episode, fellow Party Game Bro, Elliott Rivette, or PGB Elliott, and special guest star Dafawfulizer, a fellow YouTuber, discussed our predictions for the future of downloadable content in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. This game is best known for being a major eSport, as well as a major crossover event between video game franchises such as Super Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Sonic, Castlevania, and much more. We broke down each person's predictions and discussed feasibility.

Other episodes varied from discussing everything from sexism in the Legend of Zelda, to amiibo (video game figurines), and much more.

Skylanders: Portal Casters 10th Anniversary Celebration Part 2
"Paul Reiche"

October 2020 - Present

Skylanders: Portal Casters began as a fan passion project podcast where I acted as a co-host alongside another Skylanders content creator on Twitch. We wanted to create something for Skylanders fans, despite Activision putting the franchise on hiatus. Eventually, we became partnered with Spotify and have had numerous guests that also create content based around Skylanders on the show.

In this episode, the original creator of Skylanders, Paul Reiche, who was also the creator of Star Control and an original designer on Dungeons & Dragons, joins us for the 10th Anniversary of the franchise to discuss how the franchise was conceived and some of his favorite moments and memories while working on the games.

Paul Reiche was one of many developers on the franchise who joined us for the show. Alex Ness, who voices the character Chill Bill and acted as narrative lead on the series was a frequent guest. Robert Leyland, designer of the Portal of Power, and graphic designers I-Wei Huang and Jeff Murchie also joined for episodes of the show.

During my tenure with the podcast, not only did I act as co-host, but I also was the social media manager for the podcast on YouTube and Twitter and created the podcast logo and the album cover itself, including remaking the element symbols from scratch using Illustrator, and in the case of the character artwork, Photoshop, in order to arrange them to work for our album cover. The show has continued without me in 2022 with a new host taking my place.

Holly: The Series S1E1

"Then the Carousel Started"

February - August 2017

Holly actually began as a project for me in High School. I had been doing a show called Where in the World is Stjern? which was an educational geography show inspired by the '90s kid show, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? I wanted to, for some time, have a show with more diverse characters, but my lobbying to add a LGBT character to Stjern had been denied many times.

Therefore, I branched off to YouTube to craft a scripted audio show called Holly, a LGBT romance comedy with zany pop culture banter about a transgender girl falling in love with the boy next door. It was heavily inspired by a mix of Dawson's Creek and Gilmore Girls. After the initial 82 minute show was well received, I decided to follow it up with 12, much shorter miniseries episodes.

The episode featured here is the first of the 12. The title is a reference to The Catcher in the Rye. The series follows much in the way of the 82 minute original show, but instead focuses on themes of innocence and acceptance.

While I believe this show has a few flaws looking back on it today, I still believe it stands as a good beacon for the message that diversity is important and that everyone is human no matter their differences.
